MS Joins Our Family

The diagnosis came with little surprise and some relief. We finally had an answer. For several years, Jean had been experiencing unusual symptoms and we knew something "just wasn't right." In 2002, she was diagnosed with MS. She had problems walking and had fallen several times for no apparent reason. She experienced periods of fatigue and the simplest tasks took enormous energy. The answer came after an MRI revealed liasons on her spinal cord. The diagnosis was confirmed when a spinal tap showed the enzyme associated with MS was present in her spinal fluid.

Because the onset of MS was later in her life, and based on her current symptoms, we believe Jean has progressive MS. Each day presents challenges for her which she meets with determination. Each person experiences this disease differently which makes diagnosis and treatment difficult.
